WHY KEN THE HORSE?

If you ask directions in Hawick (Scottish Borders) - locals will often say " dive ee ken the horse - gan past there and turn right...." or translated: Do you know where the Horse monument is - go past there and turn right....
So that's how the Horse got its name "Ken".

The famous Horse Monument in Hawick. Commemorates the history, legend and traditon of the Scottish Borderlands in one of the largest and oldest of the Common Ridings.
